Our Student Leadership Groups
ALL Year 6 students are to take on a leadership role in a variety of areas within the school. The 5 roles are –Technology, Sports, Communications, Social Justice and Sustainability.
Technology
The areas of responsibility include:
- Setting up the Public Address system for Assemblies and other school functions.
- Running the Power Point presentations for Mass and Hymn Singing.
- Locking and unlocking the school gates.
- Taking photos at school events.
- Charging computer equipment.
Sports
The areas of responsibility include:
- Setting up for Daily Fitness & running events.
- Distribution and general care of sports equipment – making sure balls are pumped up.
- Assisting at special sporting activities – e.g. Interschool Sports days.
- Clean and maintain sports shed.
- Setting up goals for recess and lunch.
- Putting out sand pit equipment.
Communications
The areas of responsibility include:
- Conducting/MC school assemblies.
- Flag raising.
- Leading prayer at school assemblies.
- Welcoming guests – taking new parents on tour of school and explaining special features of school.
- Awarding the Mathlete of the Week trophy.
Social Justice
The areas of responsibility include:
- Monitoring students at Hymn Singing.
- Organising fundraising events - e.g. Project Compassion
- Judging the Aussie of the Month award.
Sustainability
The areas of responsibility include:
- Collecting paper that has been recycled.
- Collecting batteries for recycling.
- Promoting our school as being a Waterwise school.
- Putting out the rubbish bins.
Each year we conduct student elections for the Captains and Vice-Captains of our factions; Mercy, Leonard and Kelly. The students present a speech in front of their peers and teachers, who then vote. The election is run by the Electoral Education Commission of W.A.
