Letter from the Archbishop
As each day goes by the extent of the health crisis facing us here in WA, across our country, and around the world, becomes more obvious and more alarming. We are all affected by this crisis, and many will feel a growing sense of concern in themselves and in their families and friends as the dangers we are facing become more confronting.
As you may be aware, Novel coronavirus was detected in Wuhan, Hubei Province in China in late December 2019. There have been a number of recent cases of the virus confirmed in Australia, although to date there have been no confirmed cases reported in Western Australia.
The Department of Health advises that if a student has been in contact with someone who has contracted the virus, they should seek medical advice and stay away from school until they are clear of symptoms for 14 days.
Following the Bishops’ decision to incorporate Catholic education in Western Australia earlier this year, I am pleased to inform you the new company is now registered as Catholic Education Western Australia Limited (CEWA Ltd). CEWA Ltd will commence operation from 1 January 2020, with the four diocesan Bishops as the owners, who in turn will appoint a Board of Commissioners to provide strategic governance of the system.
